In the 3rd floor reading room, a reprographic facility is available for students and faculty members of the BIT.
Past years question papers of WBUT are available and classified according to Streams, Disciplines and Semester wise.
More than 10 magazines like Digit, PC Quest, Linux for you, CSR, Science Reporter, India Today, etc and Employment News and 2 daily popular News Paper Times of India and Telegraph are subscribed regularly.
Paper published by faculty members displayed chronologically and department wise in the display section of the Library.
Average 5 to 6 books issued as a book bank issue per student and retaining period will be the entire semester.
More than 300 books on average Issued/Returned per day from members of the library. The Remaining period will be 15 days. There was a reservation and renewal facility. Other than book banks 2 books are issued per student as normal mode. In case of higher studies, Competitive Exam (GATE or Others) or campus recruitment drive for final year students, 2 more books are issued for each student. Library holding includes almost 3000 + titles and collection of 35000 books.
OPAC The OPAC facility (Online Public Access Catalogue) author, title and subject wise compatible with ANSI/NISO Z39.40 Information interchange protocol and really helpful for users to retrieve desired information.
BIT Library subscribed 29 National and International Hard Copy Journal, really helpful to the User community. It covers a broad knowledge spectrum from microwaves to Software Engineering, from Operation Research to Artificial Intelligence and so on. Besides hard copy Journals Library also provides Springer, JSTOR, Taylor &Francis, PUBMED etc. through Knimbus digital library.
Library is capable of rendering services for communication skill development in Beginners, Advance and Expert levels through more than 50 audio cassettes, CDs and DVDs.
In the beginning of 1st semester the program was arranged to help new users to know about Library holdings, Process of issue & Return, Other Facilities, method of accessing the desired documents through Catalogue card and OPAC and library rules. It will be really helpful for the user to explore the library services in proper ways.
When new titles (Book) entered the library, it was immediately informed to the user in the two ways through Notice Board and through OPAC listed under New Arrivals.
With the help of Publishers, book exhibitions are arranged from time to time. Users can thoroughly read the document before purchase or issue and decide how much and to what extent the document is relevant for his/her purpose. SPD, Willey India, McGraw Hill, Vikas, S-Chand, Scitech publishers etc. participated in the book exhibition.
